Write for us

Amber Hemline welcomes thoughtful proposals about clothing materials, construction, mending and the history of garment-making. We are interested in clear, useful writing that respects the differences between fabrics and the limits of what a reader can safely infer.

What makes a good pitch

Send a concise outline of the question, the reader it serves and the particular angle that makes it worth a piece. A strong proposal is specific, self-contained and useful without relying on invented results, sweeping claims or specialist access. Tell us what sources or experience would support the work, and flag any uncertainty.

Contributions we consider

We consider explainers, comparisons, craft and clothing histories, mending perspectives and care articles grounded in clear reasoning. We do not accept promotional copy disguised as editorial work, or claims that imply testing, credentials or access that the writer does not have.

How to send a proposal

Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a short summary and enough detail for us to understand the proposed piece. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and any commissioned work is subject to an agreed brief and editorial review.

Our point of view

A garment is a collection of choices

Amber Hemline looks closely at how cloth, construction and care meet. We favour clear explanations and experiments small enough to try without pretending every fabric behaves alike.
